He distributes toys for children from poor families, refugees and immigrants as well as takes children to baseball games and many other sports events.       Not so long ago there was an early Christmas for students at a school in San Francisco's Tenderloin District. Santa (Nick Bovis) came with toys for the entire school.        Many children have shared with him their stories about being homeless, poor or having parents addicted to drugs. All of these children need a loving parent and Nick Bovis has given them a chance to experience him as their Uncle St. Nick.  

       Many families are struggling following a decade of austerity and ongoing problems with universal credit.   Research shows parents below the breadline can spend on average just £5 a day per child on food – and struggle to afford nutritious food vital for health and development.       With no free school meals available during the school holidays, this leaves many worse-off families struggling to afford their children’s lunch.
