When I was little I was homeless, I was poor", says a kid in a San Francisco school where Nick Bovis came to create a wonderful Christmas Eve and distribute gifts for the students in the Tenderloin district. "Living without my dad is like living without a heart. No emotions come through me without him," says another one.     Nick Bovis, a true Santa Claus, has distributed gifts to 10.000 children and is famous throughout San Francisco for his charity work. He distributes toys for children from poor families, refugees and immigrants as well as takes children to baseball games and many other sports events.       Not so long ago there was an early Christmas for students at a school in San Francisco's Tenderloin District. Santa (Nick Bovis) came with toys for the entire school.        Many children have shared with him their stories about being homeless, poor or having parents addicted to drugs. All of these children need a loving parent and Nick Bovis has given them a chance to experience him as their Uncle St. Nick.

       Many families are struggling following a decade of austerity and ongoing problems with universal credit.   Research shows parents below the breadline can spend on average just £5 a day per child on food – and struggle to afford nutritious food vital for health and development.       With no free school meals available during the school holidays, this leaves many worse-off families struggling to afford their children’s lunch.              Nick Bovis is a unique person living in San Francisco who does a significant amount of charity work for kids. For example, recently students from a school in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood went to a Giants game thanks to the largesse of Nick Bovis. You might say he has adopted the inner city school after a story that touched his heart.       "When we were growing up, you always had an uncle or dad who brought you to the games," said Bovis, "So I am the new uncle for these kids," he said.
