Nick Bovis Charitable Giving and Adopted Inner City School
Nick Bovis is a unique
person living in San Francisco who does a significant amount of charity work for
kids. For example, recently students from a school in San Francisco's
Tenderloin neighborhood went to a Giants game thanks to the largesse of Nick
Bovis. You might say he has adopted the inner city school after a story that
touched his heart.
"When we were growing up, you always
had an uncle or dad who brought you to the games," said Bovis, "So I
am the new uncle for these kids," he said. Not only does he replace
himself as as an uncle for these kids, he also distributes 10.000 gifts and 175
tickets to each individual baseball game.
With all his love and support, Nick Bovis came to
these children to help them experience something special.
He started a holiday-giving
tradition in his family that teaches everyone the value of giving to others. Christmas
is not easy for vulnerable children in San Francicso. The number of children
living in poverty now equates to nine in an average class of 30. One in five
are living with domestic abuse. Many families are struggling to afford basics,
like food and clothes.
Day in and day out, Nick Bovis sees
children who are hurting, but he also sees the difference the right support can
make. Last year, Santa Nick Bovis helped to give more children hot meals and
presents when they would otherwise have gone without them. They made sure
homeless teenagers had a safe place to sleep, and young careers got a
much-needed break.
