"My mom and dad were on drugs. When I was little I was homeless, I was poor", says a kid in a San Francisco school where Nick Bovis came to congratulate children at the Christmas Eve and distribute gifts. "Living without my dad is like living without a heart. No emotions come through me without him," says another one. However, Nick Bovis provided to these children an unforgettable experience. Dressed as Saint Nick, Nick Bovis came to the school to spend time with these children and show them what it means to spend Christmas in the atmosphere of love and friendship.

His mission is to provide under privileged kids the opportunity to experience baseball through providing bats, baseball gloves, equipment and tickets to ball games. In total, Nick Bovis has distributed 10.000 gifts to children and only at one time bought 175 tickets for each baseball games.

Many families are struggling following a decade of austerity and ongoing problems with universal credit. Research shows parents below the breadline can spend on average just £5 a day per child on food – and struggle to afford nutritious food vital for health and development.

There are no free school meals available during the school holidays, this leaves many families struggling to afford their children’s lunch. A typical primary school meal in San Francisco costs £ 5 a day, which means parents can barely afford lunch, let alone breakfast and dinner.
