Nick Bovis Charitable Work

 

        Nick Bovis is a person well-known in San Francisco for his charitable work.    He participates extensively in the San Francisco Annual Toy Drive over the winter holidays. 10,000 toys distributed to under privileged kids is very serious! Moreover, Nick Bovis has brought Santa and toys to the kids at City Academy on Christmas for the past six years.  ABC7 News aired a story about the school and about some heartbreaking journals the kids wrote about the challenges in their young lives.

     "When you see that little spark in their eyes, it just motivates you to help the children.   We are trying to introduce them to another world outside their little area here in the Tenderloin," Nick Bovis said.

      His favorite sport is baseball and he does everything possible to share this passion with children. He buys sports equipment for them and very often takes them to baseball games. Very soon,  Bovis became children’s favorite and replaced a father for them. In total, he has distributed not only the gifts but also 175 tickets for per baseball game.  The trip by Santa Nick Bovis was amazing and a surprise to these children of the Tenderloin. For most, the school is a refuge from the struggles of life in a district coping with drugs and crime.
