Nick Bovis went to the school dressed as Santa and distributed gifts to the children.
Overall, he has distributed more than 10.000 gifts. The trip by Santa
was amazing and a surprise to these children of the Tenderloin. For most, the
school is a refuge from the struggles of life in a district coping with drugs
and crime. Nick Bovis
It’s the most wonderful
time of the year... unless it’s not. For many children and their parents, this
time of year may be depressing, stressful or simply go by unnoticed due to more
pressing problems.
He started a holiday-giving tradition in
his family that teaches everyone the value of giving to others. Many Christmas’s
are not easy for vulnerable children in San Francicso. The number of children
living in poverty now equates to nine in an average class of 30. One in five
are living with domestic abuse and families are struggling to afford basics,
like food and clothes.
Day in and day out, Nick Bovis see’s
children who are hurting but he also see’s the difference the right support can
make. Last year, Santa Nick Bovis helped to give more children hot meals and
presents when they would otherwise have gone without. He made sure homeless
teenagers had a safe place to sleep.
